The 1941-regulation version of the Luftwaffe’s dark cockpit grey. RLM 66 (1941) follows the later L.Dv. 521/1 colour chart and painted German cockpits and crew compartments from around mid-1941, becoming the standard interior colour from summer 1944 onward the shade to reach for on a mid-to-late-war German build.

Best for

  • Mid-to-late-war Luftwaffe cockpits and crew compartments
  • Standard German interior surfaces from summer 1944
  • Builds where the exact regulation date matters

Base the interior, wash it dark, then drybrush the raised detail back up the self-levelling finish holds weathering products firmly once it’s cured.

The later-regulation German cockpit grey, reference RC938. Finish the interior work with the wider AK Real Colors range.
