Golden, peerless, eternal and a nightmare to colour-pick from a wall of pots when you’re just starting your Custodes. We’ve done the choosing for you: ten paints, every one earning its place on radiant gold plate, deep red detail and the Emperor’s own guard.

What’s in the set

Base (4): Retributor Armour, Abaddon Black, Leadbelcher, Mephiston Red
Layer (2): Liberator Gold, Stormhost Silver
Shade (2): Reikland Fleshshade, Nuln Oil
Technical (2): Astrogranite, Blood for the Blood God

Best for

Gold armour washed warm with Reikland Fleshshade
Liberator Gold and Stormhost Silver edges that really pop
Red plumes and cloaks, blades and stone-textured bases

Base the gold, wash it, edge it and your Custodes go from grey plastic to gleaming Talons of the Emperor in an afternoon.

Miniatures not included. Pots come in a mix of Citadel and Warhammer Colour packaging it’s the same paint, Games Workshop is mid-way through renaming the range. A decent detail brush gets the most out of this set, and there’s plenty more in the Warhammer Colour range when you’re ready to expand.
